Cultural and Social activities
The Amazon Spanish College language Programs include a dynamic, interesting and fun leisure agenda that is complementary to the process of learning the Spanish language. All activities are geared towards socializing in a learning environment and increasing the student's knowledge of Colombian culture and the Amazon. The Cultural and Social Activities are included at no additional cost in the price of the classroom based Spanish course.
We offer a range of different activities two days a week, so you can combine them with your Spanish program. Please note, although almost all activities are free, in some activities you may need to pay "out-of-pocket" expenses (entrance fees etc.)
Among these activities are:
Local Orientation
We will show you around the most important places in town (banks, library, main square, ATMs, etc). A brief explanation will be given to you concerning all practical information you need to know such as cultural differences, transportation, communications, safety, etc.
Typical Colombian Cooking Class
Cooking classes take place at the college. We show you how to prepare typical colombian dishes, the explanation will be in Spanish.
Amazonian handcraft
Together with other students you will produce your own handcraft made of local seed varieties.
Fruits of the Amazon
In the Amazon region there are many exotic fruits. We will learn more about the fruits and taste fruits of most varieties.
Local Visits
There are many activities to do in and around Leticia. We will visit nearby parks, fincas, the university, seminars about the Amazon rainforest, the Zoo, local Ticuna communities and other places.
The activities are announced on a board at the college at the beginning of each week and they vary from week to week. You will definitely have fun! If you want to participate in longer week-end excursions, see the excursions offered in our Eco-adventures package.
