Trainee & internship
The Amazon Spanish College Volunteer and Internship Programs provide the unique opportunity to live and work in Colombia. Participants will experience first-hand the rich cultural diversity of Colombia, while cultivating a superior level of Spanish proficiency and gain a work experience in an international environment. The students are placed in institutions or companies, according to their field of study and expertise. The appropriate institution for the internship is chosen based on the student’s skills, abilities and expectations.
The Trainee & internship Work Program require a participation of 12 weeks. In this program a Spanish course (either one-to-one or in a small group) is combined with the trainee work. The Spanish Course is 10 hours per week and the working time is 20 hours per week.
The Amazon Spanish College Trainee Program is especially designed for students and newly graduates who are looking for a challenging working experience abroad. Working experience abroad looks great on a resume. Furthermore, most participants finish our program speaking fluently Spanish. This, added to the work accomplished in a different culture and circumstances, will be greatly appreciated by future employees.
The program includes:
- 30 h/week, 10 h Spanish lessons one- to- one and 20 h trainee work
- Accommodation with a host family
- Trainee period 12 Weeks
- Intermediate or previous studies of 6 weeks at the college
- Begin any Monday of the year
Participants may choose preferred location of their volunteer placement. Possible fields of interest include social work, helatcare, education, environment or tourism. While most of The Amazon Spanish College projects take place in Leticia, there are also projects out of the City. Please let us know in case you have any special requests; we will be happy to tailor a traineeship to specific needs!
Support offered to Trainees
Trainees can count of the continuous support of our Volunteer Coordinator that will have at least one personal interview with each volunteer and take him/her to the project the first day of work. Upon arrival to Leticia, students receive a preliminary information regarding the volunteer work experience.
Procedure for work
When booking the Trainee & Internship Work Program, we'll ask you to send us your preferences and motivation letter. When arranging a placement, our Volunteer Coordinator considers the student's personal goals, level of Spanish proficiency, prior work experience and length of probable commitment, as well as the needs of the host organization/Company/Institution. When the organization/Company/Institution agrees on the placement, we'll send confirmation of the student's voluntary work (placement document). The final decision regarding the acceptance of a student in a project will be taken by the organization.
Requirements
The traineeship program is designed for students or recent graduates in all fields with a minimum age of 18 years old. The only formal requirement is a commitment of 12 weeks and specific knowledge in the relevant field. Furthermore you will have to meet the requirements of the placement of your choice (if any).
